Cabbagetown is a great place where things are always happening and it is sometimes hard to keep track of. However, that being said the Old Cabbagetown BIA runs a Blogand updates it regularly. Make sure that you check it out or that you subscribe to it.

On today’s OCBIA Blog there is a model of the new Building planned for the “Javaville” location at the North East Corner of Carlton and Parliament. Have a look at the model and feel free to comment below.

This week I received a presentation from the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls’ Club about a Facility Study. They are inviting interested parties to a further neighborhood consultation On Monday February 23rd at 7 PM in the Rigg Room at 101 Spruce Street. Please RSVP by contacting:

The Old Cabbagetown BIA and the Toronto Heritage Preservation must be asleep at the wheel if this design goes through.

I don’t even know where to start about this design or should I say, ‘Lack of Design’. First, in this day and age, a cardboard cutout with no textures is embarassing.

Secondly, no one would think this is a ‘Victoria Building’. Cabbagetown is the larget collection of Victorian homes in North America. Our main street should reflect this heritage.

Hopefully, the Cabbagetown Community and someone at the Heritage Toronto will come together to get a hold on this thing.

Richard, your post about the building at Aberdeen and Parliament has fantastic because it looks like the Cabbagetown BIA is letting everything slide.

I will be brain storming ways to help… anyone know a good SketchUp person?

Thanks Sandy, I agree. I also wonder if the height and size become the norm, without Gabled rooves & Bay windows to soften the lines, what will tomorrows’ Parliament Street look like?
