A dog was stolen yesterday afternoon around 5:30 from in front of the Cabbagetown Butcher Shop. It’s a Chocolate Lab named Fleefus and there is a Toronto Star Article this morning that describes the theft and gives a description of the thief. They and Fleefus are well-known in the Cabbagetown dog-walking community and need our help and support. Remember this could easily be one of us, so be careful with those pups.

yes Fleefus is one lucky dog as any number of horrific fates could have met him. Let’s hope this story serves as a wake up call to the careless owners who think it is ok to leave their dogs tied up outside stores. You wouldn’t leave your children on the sidewalk. Why? Because it isn’t safe.. same for the dogs.. these thefts happen all the time with a variety of motives sometimes to sell the dog or collect a ransom or far far worse.
I’d rather you not leave your dog alone, but if you do: http://www.trails.com/gear/p/ruff-wear/doglock-locking-leash/ is one step safer.
