Cabbagetown Alert: Sunday Clean Up of Parliament Street!
July 10th, 2009 categories: Around TORONTO, Cabbagetown, Toronto
Come one, come all…
But bring a broom, dustpan and gloves. Meet at the Jet Fuel Cafe’ on Parliament Street at 10 AM on Sunday morning, July 12th, 2009!!
20 great souls came out last weekend and volunteered to help clean up Parliament Street and we were able to get a few blocks done. Please join us and spread the word so that we can expand the clean up. We promise not to keep you more than one hour but it makes a big difference and is time you can be proud of spending!
One of the attendees wrote: “we felt pretty good after Sunday’s cleanup. Thx for organizing this. We donated to John’s dumping fund and Jan and I will be at the next one, too.”
It was great seeing the group of us working together and some new friendships were made as well. Please Join Us!!
The garbage collected was taken by Johnny Jetfuel in his truck to a private dump in biodegradeable bags that I supply.

What a great idea. I’ve been impressed with the cleanliness of Cabbagetown during the strike, but Parliament Street could do with some tidying up. I’ll be there on Sunday morning.
I assume we don’t have to bring our own garbage bags?

No need for Garbage bags…I will bring boxes of them. I do suggest some rubber or rubber coated gloves however. See you then. Please spread the word!!
So Richard how do it go today… It is so nice to see
you involved in Cabbagetown.. It is a beautiful day
to be out there.. So do tell us how it went.. and if
you are planning on doing it again..
It went really well. We had about 30 pepole and were able to get to the little Parkette at Parliament and Gerrard. We did not touch Carlton Street however. Next weekend, there will be a group out on Sunday at 10 AM. Sadly, I am committed elsewhere (Vancouver, meeting my new great nephew, 2 weeks old) but will make sure we let people know. We had a lot of fun this morning so join in next weekend…
