Almost every year for the past 15 years, I have spent four mid-Summer days at a Conference in San Francisco called Inman Real Estate Connect. It is a chance for REALTORS, Boards, Associations and technology/social media junkies to get together and talk about the future.

A search here will show that I have written blogs about this event before. One of my favorite sessions is called “Innovation Showcase” or I call it…..”The new kids on the block”.

There were 4 Presentations: Yobongo.com, Skygrid.com, ThinkNear.com and Houzz.com.

The last Houzz.com is something everyone should check out right away if you are looking for design ideas or designers for your home. It is a great application for homeowners and will make it easier for us all to communicate our needs and wants when it comes to design. You can create an “idea book”and it will save you from schlepping design magazines all over and still not finding what you are looking for…probably the second largest cause of divorce could be cured with one web site!

It was very well received and I suggest you try it out and let us know what you think….

Happy Holidays!! That Time of Year Again! CALENDAR TIME!

Holiday Season is a lot of fun but it does mean a normal slowing of the Toronto Real Estate market , a time for me to catch up with “routine maintenance”, holidays and…CALENDARS!

I have mailed out a lot of calendars to my snail-mailing group but wanted to let you know that I do have some leftovers that are looking for a home for the next year. Feel free to email me your mailing address at mail@richardsilver.com and I will be happy to send you this year’s model of the Tasteful Kitchens Calendar. It’s always been my favorite because…it has recipes, great kitchens to look at…and…I am an admitted FOODIE, after all!

We will be exploring South America and Antarctica this Xmas/New Year so I will try not to bother you with too many photos in the New Year but…I promise nothing. Real Estate should start hopping again after the middle of January when couples get back from holidays after setting some goals and getting life back to normal. I am around for the next couple of weeks and am always available online…even in Antarctica…

Our last day in San Diego was spent at Sea World. It was definitely not as good as the San Diego Zoo but we got some good shots of Dolphins and Whales, with more to come, in the next few days…

INDIA: The Trip of a Lifetime

It was almost a year ago today that we were preparing to head off on our “Trip of a Lifetime” to India. It was everything we hoped for and more. It is with horror that we heard of the attacks in Mumbai this past week.

India is a country of contrast; rich and poor, young and old, history and modernism, beauty and ugliness…The Indian people are lovely, welcoming, peaceful people, with a history of art, music and dance.

Rather than saying any more, follow this link to the photos we took of the Indian people, artifacts, hotels. If you have never been there, please make plans to go as a means of showing your support. If you already have plans to go to India and you are thinking of cancelling them, please do not….that way the Terrorists have won.
