The Hidden Gardens and Private Spaces tour in Cabbagetown is celebrating its TENTH anniversary on Sunday June 5th from 10:00-3:00pm.
Come and see historic streets, delightful laneway and beautiful Victorian architecture and many hidden gardens you would otherwise never see.
This self-guided tour (map in the ticket) showcases the creative designs of imaginative gardeners in private inner-city spaces in the Heritage Conservation District of downtown Toronto, Cabbagetown, where most homes date from the mid to late 1800s. Many gardens can be accessed only through pleasant back lanes with appealing names like Magic, Yen or Chipping Sparrow.

This year's tour includes the ever popular and dramatic 6,000 square foot private roof garden atop the Hugh Garner Co-op on Ontario Street. If you haven't seen it yet, you don't want to miss it this year!
It was designed by Monica Kuhn and it provides panoramic views of the city in all directions, and is a magical oasis with mature plantings, walkways, picnic areas, and places for quiet contemplation.

Attending this tour is not only an inspiration for your personal garden space but also a chance to meet up with friends, stop at local shops and restaurants offering tour-goers specials, talk to Master Gardeners for pertinent advice, explore the neighbourhood, and celebrate our beautiful historic Cabbagetown. And, this year’s expert gardener is Marjorie Harris along with her colleague Esther, gardener extraordinaire.
Tickets ($15) are available at this web site using PayPal or from many merchants in the area as well as at selected outlets across the city. The ticket is a booklet that provides you with a description of the gardens as well as information on how to access them. It includes a map and also contains special offers from local businesses.
