Ready for the second half of summer being a wild ride? Toronto has several events in store, that will make the warm days worth exploring the city. From outdoor festivals to Fan Expo and The Ex, August has it all!
Canadian National Exhibition
When: August 16 – September 2
Where: Toronto’s Exhibition Place
End of the summer in Toronto is always an exciting time for the fans of rollercoasters, games and excitement. Canadian National Exhibition is a Toronto staple event, offering entertainment for the whole family. With various events from air show to exhibits, animal meet-ups and sports games, there’s something for everybody and everybody will probably be at the Ex one day or another.
Toronto Food Truck Festival
When: August 2-5
Where: Woodbine Park
All the delicious food trucks in one place! If you are a lover of street food, this is the place for you. The 28-acre park will be full of delicious treats from burritos and hot dogs, to beaver tails and crépes. You can participate in an eating challenge, enjoy various performances or just stroll around the food truck and tasting all the deliciousness.
Taste of the Danforth
When: August 9-11
Where: Greek Town
The GTA lays claim to more than 200,000 residents of Greek ancestry, the third largest Hellenic community outside of Greece. Taste of the Danforth celebrates all that and more, bringing different cultures together and celebrating the Greek heritage. Try one of the special tasting menus of various multiethnic treats, experience being a Greek for a day, learn a dance from another culture or simply enjoy one of the performances at the Showcase stage.

Do you have a sweet tooth? Sweetery is a festival of anything sweet from candy, to pastry, bringing you the best Canadian sweets and much more from various vendors. The entertainment part of the festival will include an Indiana Jones movie night, sweets lineup from MasterChef favourite contestants Reem and Nadia from Season 5 and live music. There will also be various activities in support of the Second Harvest Charity – the largest food rescue program in Canada.
Fan Expo Canada
When: August 22-25
Where: Metro Toronto Convention Centre
The biggest Canadian comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming expo is coming back this year with stars like Jeff Goldblum, Jason Momoa or Zachary Levi. This year, the Expo celebrates 25 years of existence, so the convention will be bringing in some special events like Halloween in July, Toronto’s Geekiest Citizenship Ceremony and Fan Expo Eats.
Toronto Cider Festival
When: August 23-24
Where: Sherbourne Common
Award-winning largest Canadian Cider festival is inviting you again to taste craft ciders from around the worlds. 5th year in running, the festival will offer the best food & cider pairings, contests, live music, art shows and much more, that will keep you entertained for the weekend.
